Find a Need Fill It. Find A Hurt And Heal It.
The Dream Centers of Michigan began with a moment of inspiration. Some people at Woodside Bible Church wanted to help the hurting people of the city of Pontiac. They considered launching a campus and doing some outreach.
But what if they thought bigger? What if they were able to bring hope and healing to people by creating an environment filled with compassion, caring volunteers and the strategic use of resources?
The result was the launch of the Dream Centers of Michigan, a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those who are homeless or low-income, at-risk youth and struggling families. The Dream Centers of Michigan are part of an international collection of more than 100 independent Dream Centers, each striving to meet local needs.
Our goal is to help transform communities in Southeast Michigan one person at a time by providing resources and opportunities that help them realize their dream of living a self-sufficient life. We believe lives can be transformed when basic needs are met and people are given opportunities to learn and access life skills training.
Perry is a single father of eight living in Pontiac. They all live together in a one-bedroom apartment. Volunteers have come along side Perry to provide mentoring and help him learn a trade for full-time employment.
Perry has been blessed with dental care for his family, clothing for fast-growing boys, food from the pantry and three hot meals every week. As a way to give back, Perry volunteers at the Dream Center of Pontiac.
Mission and Vision
The Dream Centers of Michigan currently serves in two locations, Pontiac and Warren. Over time, we plan to expand the Dream Centers to reach more communities.
Mission: Our mission is to reconnect isolated people to God with a community of support by providing compassion with accountability that addresses immediate and long-term needs.
Vision: We seek to transform underserved communities by helping broken people realize their God-given value, while providing for their basic needs, a healthy lifestyle and opportunities for learn life skills.
While each Dream Center is unique because each community is different, we want each Dream Center to fill the gaps in these key areas:
- Life Skills Training
- Neighborhood Revitalization
